Holon Links — User Manual

Getting Started

Holon Links is part of the Holon tool suite and is launched from Holon Hub. There's nothing to install per-tool and no token to enter.

Adding Links

Click + Add Link in the top-right of the main panel.

• URL — the full link, including https://
• Title — what students see
• Description — a short explanation (optional but helpful)
• Category — pick from the dropdown or type a new one
• Tags — comma-separated keywords (e.g. required, week-3, video)
• Pin — pinned links always show at the top

Working with Categories

Categories appear in the left sidebar. Each category has a count showing how many links it contains.

Create

Click the + next to the Categories label, type a name, and Create.

Rename

Hover over a category and click the ✎ pencil icon, or double-click the name. Type the new name and press Enter (Escape to cancel). Renaming cascades automatically — all links in that category move with it.

Recolor

Click the small colored square next to a category name. The color picker opens and applies the change instantly.

Delete

Hover over a category and click the ×. Links in that category are moved to General.

Bulk Import

If you already have a list of resources in Excel or a Word document, you can import them in seconds.

Scan Course

Already have links scattered across your Canvas course? Scan Course finds them automatically.

Click Scan Course in the sidebar. Holon Links pulls every URL out of your Modules, Pages, Syllabus, and Announcements, then offers them for one-click import. You decide which ones to keep.

Check Links (Health Check)

Over time, links break. Click Check Links to test every URL in your library and flag broken ones (404s, dead domains, redirects). Broken links are highlighted in red so you can update or remove them.

Push to Canvas

Any link in your library can be added directly to Canvas without copy-paste.

Click Add to Canvas on any link card and choose a destination:

• Module — appended as an external URL item
• Existing Page — appended to the page body
• New Page — creates a fresh page
• Front Page — appended to your course front page
• Syllabus — appended to the syllabus body
• Assignment — appended to the assignment description
• Announcement — posts a new announcement

Student Experience

Students see the same link library you do, but with a focused, read-only view:

• Browse by category or search by keyword
• Sort by Newest, Most Popular, Most Used, or A–Z
• Vote up or down on links they find useful (or not)
• Suggest new resources for instructor review

Reviewing Student Suggestions

When students suggest links, they appear in the Inbox sidebar item. Open Inbox to:

• Approve — the link joins the main library
• Edit then approve — tweak the title, description, or category before publishing
• Reject — the suggestion is dismissed

Analytics

Click Analytics in the sidebar to see:

• Total clicks across all links
• Most-clicked links (your top resources)
• Category breakdown
• Vote totals (helpful vs unhelpful)
• Suggestion stats

Customizing the Look

Click the Theme button in the top-right to open the theme editor. You can change accent colors, backgrounds, sidebar styling, and section headers. Changes are saved per user.

FAQ & Troubleshooting

Holon Links shows a license screen.

This means it was opened outside of Holon Hub. Launch Holon Links from Holon Hub instead, and confirm your plan includes Holon Links. If the problem persists, email support@holontechnology.com.

Holon Links can't reach Canvas.

Relaunch Holon Links from Holon Hub to refresh your Canvas connection. You never need to manage a Canvas token yourself.

I deleted a category by accident.

Links in that category were moved to General — nothing was lost. Re-create the category and reassign the links.

How do I uninstall?

In Canvas, go to Settings → Apps → View App Configurations, find Holon Links, and delete it. Your data stays on the server (we don't auto-delete) so you can reinstall later.
